Description
You're looking at a beautiful 2012 Gibson Les Paul 60s Tribute Goldtop that shows some really cool wear. Look at the pics below and you'll see it's got some extensive checking and discoloration on the body, and the gold paint is starting to chip along the edges just like you see on those vintage Gibsons from the old days. In fact, the armwear area shows "greening" which is usually only seen on true vintage goldtops from the 50s and 60s. Also note previous owner removed a strip of paint along the edge of the body to give it the look of body binding. All parts are original, including the two great sounding Gibson 490R/490T humbuckers. It has a 60s SlimTaper neck profile with 12" radius, carved maple top and chambered mahogany body. Why buy one new and spend 10 years hoping it will someday look this cool? This one is ready to go. Frets are perfect, no issues. All hardware is burnished to a soft glow, neck is a soft gloss on back. Action low, set up and ready to play. Comes with factory Gibson USA gigbag and paperwork. Chambered body makes for a very trim weight of 7 pounds, 5 ounces. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. (Details on my setups and packing and full specs at bottom of listing.) Thanks for looking!
Note on photos: Both inside and outside lighting were used to try to show what this really looks like. Checking is a weird thing. With a bright light looking at an angle checking really shows, while looking straight on from a few feet, it actually somewhat disappears.

What You Get
-- Full setup, cleaning, and new strings.
-- FREE USA shipping.
-- 30-day return policy.
-- Ship within 1 business day--pro packing.
Guitar Setup
All setups are done by our in-house luthier. Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks!
Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.

A pickup pairing made for tone
Gibson voiced the pickups on the Les Paul Tribute for tonal characteristics similar to their ’57 Classics but with a slight increase in the upper mids for a more contemporary humbucker sound — a favorite among guitarists here at Sweetwater. The neck-position 490R gives you much of the tonal characteristics of an original PAF but with a slight upper-mid bump that delivers clarity and definition to complement the wonderfully warm sound of this pickup — great for chimey rhythm work. And the 490T humbucker is the ideal bridge pickup when you need more mids and highs. With a 3-way pickup selector and independent tone controls, you have a massive array of tone-shaping options at your fingertips.
Designed for comfort
Early Les Pauls were known for being a bit heavy. With the Ultra-modern weight relief system on the Tribute, Gibson has carved out carefully chosen sections of the body to remove some of that extra weight without compromising tone or resonance. With this relief, you can enjoy more hours of comfortable live playing without straining your back.
Minimalist design
Gibson opted to omit frivolities such as a bound neck and body. The Les Paul Special '60s Tribute really is more than the sum of its parts: old-school pickups, premium electrical components, minimalist finishing touches, and worn-in feel all merge to make the Les Paul Special '60s Tribute a great guitar any Les Paul enthusiast would love.
Plek'd for precision playability
This Gibson Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute T feels fast and precise, thanks in large part to Plek processing. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you're likely to own. Each note rings loud and clear, and the fret edges feel smooth as silk.
