You're looking at a 2011 Gibson Les Paul 60s Tribute in Tobacco Sunburst, reliced to look like a guitar that has had many years of loving play wear. The guitar was completely taken apart and every piece down to the smallest screw meticulously worn. Multiple time intensive processes using machinery, chemicals and hand working were employed totaling about 25 hours of labor to bring the guitar to its current condition. Details such as preserving the finish underneath the pickguard, have not been missed. All parts remain original, including the two great sounding Gibson 490R/490T pickups. If you don't want to spend $4k for a Gibson Custom Shop relic, this is an affordable alternative with looks that will turn heads. Hardware is burnished to a soft glow. The 60s Slim profile neck has been sanded up to 5000 grit and buffed for a glass-like finish on back. Frets are in near perfect condition and I took the time to roll the ends and polish them until they glow (see pic). Action low, set up and ready to play. About my relics:
All my guitars are reliced by hand and by one person--and all are true "one-offs." Those big Custom Shops are great, but they mass-produce guitars using stencils to make many guitars that all look alike. I relic geniune USA-made Fenders and Gibsons. These are not a kit guitar that someone reliced and stuck a waterslide decal on. The woods on my relics have aged in the real world for several years, and that makes a real difference in Tone when compared to buying a new guitar. I have a small shop, and I DO sweat the details. Guitar Setup
My setup on guitars includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. I spray out any pots that are noisy. I turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. I don't claim to be a trained luthier, but I'm able to set guitars/basses for a reasonable out-of-box experience and have had very few complaints. If you're looking for the perfect setup on a used guitar, please expect to take it to a trained luthier who is familiar with your individual playing style and preferences. ps: basses get the same setup minus the new strings. Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case.
