Micro-Frets Calibra I Guitar Vintage 70s Super Clean! +OHSC MicroFrets 2560
Description
This is an early 70s Micro-Frets Calibra I in excellent playing and cosmetic condition. All original with no modifications. These have become quite rare, especially in this condition and with the original case and strap. The overall looks are really stunning on this guitar. No major dings or scratches. Only some mild playing wear, including a couple small marks near the edge and some worming on the back (see pics). Personally I think most rational people would look this over and give it a solid 9/10 rating, but this is subjective. Look at all pics and ask ALL questions before buying.
The playability is nice. Plays well all over the neck. Does have some fret flattening, but not fretting out anywhere. Tremolo works well and electronics sound great. Two very hot pickups. Semi-hollow body and F-hole make for warm sound. I priced this after looking all over the web at what others are asking. I don't think you will find many in clean, original condition and with the original case like this. Weight is 6 pounds, 10 ounces. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. (Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing.) Thanks for looking!
PS: If you really want to learn the Micro-Frets history, just web search "Micro-Frets Saga," and a Vintage Guitar article will come up with all the details. Less than 3,000 instruments made. These will go up in value over time.

Guitar Setup
All our setups are done by our in-house trained luthier. Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks!
Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.
Manufacturer Info
Micro-Frets was a short-lived brand that operated out of Maryland in the late 1960s and early '70s. The firm produced an estimated 3000 total instruments before closing its doors in 1975. On the vintage market, Micro-Frets are known for their oddball shapes and design features, as well as the vibrant finishes that set them apart from anything else produced in this era. The brand name has been revived since the original closure, though Micro-Frets fans are mostly interested in vintage examples.
