Fender 1985 Contemporary Stratocaster +OHSC 1st Year Bill Lawrence PU 40180

You're looking at a great Stratocaster--a 36-year-old "A" Series Fender Contemporary Strat made in Japan (serial# A040180). Comes with original Fender molded hard case. 1985 was the first year of production for this model, and it's distinguished by the serial being imprinted on the neck plate instead of on the headstock. This is a different take on the Strat with a single humbucking pickup and a Fender System One locking tremolo. The pickup has been upgraded to a vintage Bill Lawrence pickup, which often go for upward of $100 used.

The guitar has a Pearl White finish and simple Volume/Tone setup. Beautiful dark rosewood fretboard. Frets are surprisingly clean with only mild flattening. Plenty of players wear on the body though it's still a real looker from the front. I believe this guitar sat for a while as the tremolo had lots of oxidation when I got it. I went over it painstakingly cleaning all parts. The string rollers still work and the trem functions with no issues. The locking nut is original type but was changed from black to its current chrome (the original back part is included). Trem bar is not original though it works pretty well. Molded case is in good shape but with some oxidation on the latches. Weight is 7 pounds, 11 ounces. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. All our setups are done by our in-house luthier. Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks!
