Fender 2009 American Special Stratocaster 2-Point Trem Sunburst USA Clean! 34201
Description (more pics below)
This is a 2009 early-first year of production American Special Stratocaster in 2-color sunburst finish. Excellent playing and cosmetic condition. Features:
— Alder body, maple neck
— C-profile, 9.5" radius neck w/ jumbo frets
— Greasebucket tone circuit & Alnico 3 overwound pickups
First off, the Fender Serial Number Lookup verifies this is a November 2009 American Special Strat (screenshot of specs below). This was just as Fender was transitioning from the Highway One line to American Special. So many parts were shared in the early days (per Fender Support). In fact, the neck says Highway One at the heel (neck specs on the two lines are the same—9.5” radius, jumbo frets, 70s headstock). And the pickups are Alnico 3 overwound pickups per the Hwy 1 specs, vs. Texas Specials the Amer. Specials would later get.
Fender Customer Relations verified all this info via the pics I sent them, so this is a true crossover instrument between lines. Also please note, the tremolo bridge is an aftermarket 2-point style put on by previous owner. I’ve tested it and it plays and feels great. I was informed by a member in the TDPRI guitar forum this is a Guitar Fetish 2-point hardened steel bridge and he mentioned it’s better than the stock Fender bridge and I’d have to agree.
Cosmetically, this guitar is very clean. No dings or scratches. Only mild playing scuffs that won’t show on camera. Fret wear is mild and overall this is a real nice player. You can’t tell in pics but the access hole in the rear tremolo cover was hand cut. 15-years-vintage and going strong. Weight is a comfortable 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Tremolo bar included but no case. I do a full setup and expert packing: details below. Thanks for looking.
About Me
My store is a one-person small business that has been selling used guitars and basses for 15 years now. I do a basic setup and cleaning on every instrument I sell, so depending on workload it may be 1-2 business days before your guitar ships. When it arrives you can depend on it being, clean, set up, and securely packed. Check my feedback for confirmation. Thanks!
Guitar Setup
Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, clean and oil fingerboard. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. We do a basic setup since setup is highly subjective you may want to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier anyway. Thanks!
Packing
Search "How to Pack a Guitar + Hot Girls" on YouTube for a video showing how I pack. I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have been doing this 15 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. You can also read my packing blog post on my StillKickinMusic website. If you Google "Still Kickin - How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.
Manufacturer Info
A twist on the classic American Standard, the Fender American Special Stratocaster swaps in hotter Texas Special pickups, the new Greasebucket tone circuit, a flatter neck radius and a vintage spec'ed tremolo - all at a lower price point than the rest of the American Fender line. The Greasebucket tone circuit allows to maintain steady volume and level bass as you roll off highs, for a more consistent tone. A perfect first step for players entering into the world of American-made Fenders, or anybody looking for a great blues, country or indie rock axe.
Fender's American Special Stratocaster solidbody electric guitar gives you popular Strat features at a price that's nearly unheard of for a US-made Fender. It all starts with an alder body for classic Strat spank, and it's all wrapped up in a great-looking gloss urethane finish. The Fender trademark maple neck feels great with its Modern C profile, and jumbo frets make for fast and precise fretwork. In the tone department, a trio of Texas Special single-coils dish out the chime while a vintage-style trem deals with the whammy action. You're going to love the Fender American Special Stratocaster. Cut through the mix
You're sure to cut through the mix, thanks to a trio of Fender's Texas Special single-coils. Used in any one of the five possible switch positions, the pickups give you classic Fender tones that have been with us since the dawn of the Strat. But these pickups have a little something extra that sets the American Special Strat apart from previous Strat incarnations - a Greasebucket tone circuit and vintage-style tremolo round out the features on this beauty. If you're looking for an American-made Strat with unbeatable bang for the buck, it's the American Special Stratocaster!
Greasebucket tone control rolls off highs without affecting volume
Fender has fitted the American Special Stratocaster with their Greasebucket tone control, which rolls off highs without adding bass or affecting your volume. This is seriously cool, because it gives you explicit control over your tone onstage without your having to compensate for volume loss. It makes the American Special Strat a serious tone machine.
