FENDER LYTE PRECISION BASS Relic MIJ 1988 Japan Lite P J Active 7lbs 10oz 19364
Fender rare P-Bass Lyte--just like the name, not too heavy on the shoulder. Sweet!
Description
You're looking at a 1988-89 Fender P-Bass Lyte made in Japan in a beautiful Violin Burst finish. Nice medium relic look to it. These are fairly rare basses--big bang for the buck--and you won't find another Precision like them. They are basically a P-bass made of light basswood, and the body is shrunk down a bit to make them a real joy to handle--only 7 pounds, 10 ounces--that's guitar-like weight! Neck is a slim Jazz-bass like profile, plays really fast--nothing like a standard P neck. Much of rear of neck is sanded to satin wood, so your hand moves even faster on it. These have great sounding active P and Jazz style pickups. Gold hardware, high-mass bridge, and matching headstock. This particular Lyte bass has been reliced lightly. Now for the bad: Rearmost knob turns a little wobbly but I've managed to make it pretty stable. Neck has some twist in it, but again I've managed to set it up to play pretty well. Due to sanding on rear of neck, you can feel the truss strip just slightly up near the nut end of the neck. Notes ring clear all over the neck except at the highest part of neck on G string where there is a lifted fret, so if you play lead on your bass it might affect you, but won't matter to most players. Full manufacturer specs at bottom. Thanks for looking!

TONE:
These don't have the weight of a normal P-bass, but the active PU's give plenty of oomph to the sound. With both P- and J- pickups, there are a ton of different tones on tap. Controls are Master Volume, Pan, Bass Boost/Cut, Treble Boost/Cut. The Pan control lets you dial in the perfect balance between the pickups.

Guitar Setup
All our setups are done by our in-house trained luthier. Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks!
Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.
