Gibson 1981 Firebrand The SG Deluxe Nice! Tim Shaw PUs +HSC 01662
Frets are smooth (no grooves) but flattened like old Gibsons tend to get. If you’re familiar with these you know the small black flecks and indents on the surface were done by Gibson at the factory for a "distressed" look. The back of the neck on this one is really smooth and not beat up (see pic). Only thing not original appears to be the tuners. Sounds and plays great. Comes with black aftermarket case with case keys. Weight is very comfortable 7 pounds, 1 ounce. Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing. Thanks for looking.
MORE ON CONDITION: Truss rod has been tested and works great. Pickups have been pulled and they exhibit all the correct Tim Shaw characteristics: PAT NO., brass screws, and white plastic spacers (see pics). Frets are well flattened, so know that going in. It is playable as-is, but don't expect it to play like a guitar with tall frets. Picky fret folks should plan on a re-fret. ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BUYING. Buyer's responsibility to do due diligence.

Guitar Setup
Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks! |
