HAMER VINTAGE 1985 STEVE STEVENS + OHSC 80s Super Strat Guitar SS1 USA 14331

This is a very rare vintage 1985 Hamer Steve Stevens signature guitar. Comes with original hard shell case. The guitar is in great playing condition. I have just given it a complete cleaning from head to toe. Fresh setup and new strings. Frets and fingerboard are in great condition. The creme finish has faded spots where it's going to white. General playing wear to finish throughout. Truss rod turns fine. Tremolo works great. All electronics intact. The guitar was probably sitting for some time in the case and both saw some damp. I have been airing the guitar and the musty smell is starting to go away, but both still have a scent of age. It may disappear completely if it is used and kept in normal temperatures for a while. This is a vintage guitar and a true road warrior, still going strong, but by no means a closet queen. Fusing the rather disparate image posturings of New Wave and Heavy Metal was the early ’80s band that backed singer Billy Idol. Idol’s guitarist, Steve Stevens, caught the attention of the guitar world and in ’84 he hooked up with Hamer to create the Prototype SS. The Prototype SS was Hamer’s first “superstrat” (at least in terms of pickup layout). It differed significantly from other Prototypes in that it had two equal cutaways, a wider mahogany body, and a six-in-line headstock. The neck continued to be glued in, with a 22-fret unbound fingerboard of either rosewood or ebony, with dot or crown inlays. The ebony and crown version was sometimes known as the Custom.

Guitar Setup
My setup on guitars includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. I spray out any pots that are noisy. I turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. I don't claim to be a trained luthier, but I'm able to set guitars/basses for a reasonable out-of-box experience and have had very few complaints. If you're looking for the perfect setup on a used guitar, please expect to take it to a trained luthier who is familiar with your individual playing style and preferences. ps: basses get the same setup minus the new strings.
