I was told it was 1963, when I bought it. But the serial number 900543 seems to indicate later 60s, perhaps 1968. Pot code is 1346543, which would be 1965. Guitar may be a factory second. Look at picture of back of headstock and see the "2" under the serial. May have had a blemish from the factory. Please do your own research, as dating from this period is not an exact science.
Description
This is a 60-something Epiphone Melody Maker in Sunburst finish. Very clean condition as far as headstock, neck, frets and finish on body. Playability is really nice and tone is sweet. Tremolo works great. It looks cleaner than most I have seen of this vintage. Real collector piece. I changed out the tuners because the head broke off one of the originals, but originals will be included. Comes with the original chipboard case. Minor marks, but overall really clean. Pickguard has two cracks and body has some checking. All electronics are original. This should make some buyer very happy. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars. Guitar Setup
All our setups are done by our in-house trained luthier. Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks!
Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case.
