Gibson G-3 Grabber Bass 70s vintage relic
MORE DETAILED PICS: GIBSON G-3 GRABBER 70s VINTAGE RELIC BASS
This bass came to Still Kickin in pretty ugly condition. The black finish looked like it hadn't been polished since the 70s when it was new, and what finish marks it had did not look nice. (I actually thought someone had re-finished it with spray paint when I first inspected it.) It just looked like a beat down old bass. We gave it some love in the form of distressing the finish around the edges and in appropriate places like buckle area and armrest. Then we took the entire body through multiple rounds of abrasive and finally multiple polishes to bring back some of the shine and luster it hadn't seen in probably 40 years. Now it looks like a beautifully worn seashell. Incidentally, the Bill Lawrence pickups in this are second to none and produce the best rock growl ever heard. The bass languished in the shop for over 2 years before we could finally part with it. Was used on this recording if you want to hear it. (see original listing with price)
