Epiphone 1999 Les Paul Custom ACE FREHLEY +HSC KISS Upgraded Wiring 01003
Description
This is a Korean made 1999 Epiphone Les Paul Custom Ace Frehley signature guitar in Cherry Sunburst finish. It comes with an Ace Frehley Budokan hard case, case key, and COA and paperwork. This is not the Budokan model, but this is how I got it. These come with three DiMarzio Super Distortion pickups. When I bought the guitar, the bridge pickup was dead and the wiring had problems.
I replaced the bridge pickup with an exactly matching DiMarzio Super Distortion DP-100 pickup and all three pickups are measuring right around 13ohms (original pickup will be included). I also significantly upgraded the wiring. These normally come from the factory with a very inflexible setup that is nothing like what Frehley uses. Your pickup switching combinations are bridge/mid, all pickups, and mid/neck, with two Volume and Tone knobs. You have no way of playing one pickup at a time or of getting Ace's kill switch effect.
Since I was replacing the bridge pickup and the wiring was having problems anyway, I re-wired it so it is closer to the Gibson (not Epiphone) Ace Frehley setup. This wiring scheme allows much more flexibility. The switching options remain the same: bridge/mid, all 3, and mid/neck--BUT, your control knobs are changed to 3 Volumes (one for each pickup) and a Master Tone knob. With this, you can choose to turn off any pickup via its knob. So use Treble switch position and turn off mid PU volume: Now you are playing with just the bridge pickup. Or you could use the middle switch position and turn off both bridge and neck Volume if you just want to play only the mid pickup. You can also obtain the kill switch effect from both the Middle and Rhythm switch positions.
The guitar itself has decent cosmetics, but plenty of players marks (see pics below). The frets are pretty good with some mild grooving. Two tuners are non-matching Gotoh replacements. Rear electronics cover doesn't fit perfectly. I have priced this a few hundred below the going due to cosmetics, but you're actually getting a much more useful guitar with the wiring setup than the other Ace Epiphones out there. I do a full cleaning and setup on all guitars, and I detailed this and got rid of all the dirt off parts, etc. (Details on my setups and packing at bottom of listing.) Thanks for looking!

Everything about the Epiphone Ace Frehley Les Paul Classic Electric Guitar screams rock. Epiphone's version of Ace's LP Custom features lightning bolt fingerboard inlays and the Ace face and signature on the headstock. Add a multi-bound premium flamed maple top, mahogany body, rosewood fingerboard, and quality chrome-plated hardware and you have a guitar that looks, feels, and sounds fantastic.
Guitar Setup
All setups are done by our in-house luthier. Setup includes new strings (9s or 10s depending on what the nut is cut for), overall polish, cleaning any gunk off fingerboard, oiling neck, and polishing frets when necessary. We spray out any pots that are noisy, turn the truss rod (if necessary) and set string height at low-to-medium action depending on string buzz present. Since setup is highly subjective you may need to get it set to your particular needs by your personal luthier. Basses get the same treatment minus the string change. Thanks!
Packing
I use quality boxes, thick bubble wrap, and peanuts to pack guitars. I have a very high rate of successful guitar and bass shipping (meaning few damaged instruments). I have been doing this 10 years and know how to pack well--with or without a hard case. I wrote a detailed story with photos on how I pack a guitar, which you can find on my StillKickinMusic site blog. If you Google "THERE IN ONE PIECE...How to Pack a Guitar" you will find it. Thanks.
